Join YWCA Hamilton for an evening of Political Speed Dating – a chance to meet the waahine and gender-diverse candidates running for your local council. Think of it as a “first date” with democracy: quick chats, real talk, and a chance to ask the questions that matter to you.

YWCA has invited all women and gender-diverse candidates standing for Hamilton City Council. This includes East, West and Maaori wards as well as mayoral candidates. It’s your chance to connect, koorero, and get inspired by the future leaders of our city.

Drinks & Nibbles from 5.30pm. Speed Dating Starts at 6.00pm

Note: This event is designed to uplift and spotlight women and gender-diverse candidates. We fully tautoko other events that provide space for all candidates across the region.

The Link: St Andrew’s Church Community Centre, 4 Te Aroha St, Claudelands, Hamilton (corner of River Rd and Te Aroha St)

  • Organised as a public service by St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

  • Very short speeches from each (on subjects of their choice), with plenty of time for your questions. Followed at 4.30 pm by afternoon tea with opportunity for informal chat.

This hui is designed to give our constituents the opportunity to learn more about you as candidates, your kaupapa, and aspirations for Kirikiriroa. It's an opportunity to connect directly with voters in a respectful, tikanga based setting.

HCC Events in the East General Ward: Vote and Vibes!

To make it easier and more fun to vote in the Hamilton City Council elections we’re putting on mini events across the city where you can bring your whaanau and friends to chill, listen to our DJ, do activities with your kids, and most importantly – vote!

Our mobile voting station will be at these locations between 10am – 12pm for you to drop off your completed voting papers or make a special vote:
